Grant J. Kidney Attends ‘Occupy Chicago’
Today I paid a visit to the happenings at ‘Occupy Chicago’ whilst journeying home to Des Moines.
At the event, a number of protesters chanted the usual statements, held up signs, and waved their fists in the air as cars passed by.
I was approached by a young girl who was doing a project on the Occupy Movement. Her only question to me was, ‘what is the end goal of Occupy Wall Street’? My answer was as straight forward as it could be.
I explained to the young woman that corporate greed has reached an unsustainable level and that unless certain measures were taken to counter-act the defacto destruction of the world by monetary means, then civilization was doomed to failure. The girl was somewhat perplexed.
A small crowd gathered around me as I explained my philosophies and individual take on the movement which differs only slightly from the now developing orthodoxy within the ranks. I spoke boldly and clearly announcing that the only way to cripple this present system of decay is to circumvent it completely by creating something new to migrate into.
I told Occupy Chicago that if folks took all of the money from their bank accounts, stopped paying taxes, stopped buying gasoline, and began to trade and barter goods and services, that a new, organic system would hence emerge thus forcing those atop the artificial social ladder to lend ear to what it is that the people have to say.
Essentially, the vast majority of human laborers are what give life to the very system in which many are protesting today. We are mere ‘batteries’ to our overlords. However, I explained to those in attendance at the Occupy protests that by removing the batteries from anything, that ‘something’ will stop functioning outright. Therefore, by removing ourselves from the present system of decay, we will have effectively disabled the machine in which we are invigorating with our precious life force, sweat, and blood.
I wasn’t able to snap any photographs or to capture any video from the event- however, if you were in attendance at the rally and have images of my appearance, please visit the ‘contact’ page of this website and send over what you have.
