Ron Paul Predicts He Will Have ‘As Many As 500′ Delegates At The Republican Convention
Business Insider — He may have effectively abandoned his White House ambitions, but Ron Paul is still promising to make good on his promise to carry his quixotic presidential campaign all the way to the Republican National Convention.
The Texas Congressman sent out a rare campaign update Wednesday night, informing supporters that he is still in the race, and stands to have “nearly 200 bound delegates” at the convention in Tampa. Paul adds that he also expects to have “several hundred” of what the campaign calls “stealthy delegates” — delegates who are bound to vote for Mitt Romney, but who are actually loyal to Paul.
The email does not say what states the delegates will come from, and it is not clear how — or even if — Paul plans to leverage their presence at the convention. The Paul campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
