To Prevent Police Brutality, Occupy Movement Should Wear Riot Gear
The Occupy Movement, in order to fortify themselves against police brutality, should begin to wear very similar gear to what police storm troopers wear- gas masks and all.
Think about it- it isn’t really fair that police, who are funded by the tax dollars of the population in which they are now currently engaging in the suppression thereof, feel it a right to use brutal force against largely peaceful protesters. This is evidence enough of the extreme backwardness of this our American culture.
So what are Occupy protesters to do when they are beaten, maced, and shot at by cops in Darth Vader gear? Lie down and take it? Obviously enough the answer lies in matching the very same ‘strength’ displayed by police officers as a method of self-defense. This would mean wearing the same ‘costumes’, and carrying the same non-lethal gear.
In a prior article I made my case that both violent police and violent protesters should disassociate from the crowds of their peers and square off in a raw, televised event where bone-breaking brutality were totally allowed. In this regard, the protests against big banks, mega corporations, and corrupt government would transpire in a relatively tranquil manner without any violent disruptions from disgruntled fascist police officers or teenaged vandals who never worked a hard day in their lives.
I’m not an advocate of violence and so I disassociate myself from anyone who really wants to smash ‘the man’ with a club of steel. I think the Occupy movement has a real shot at bringing about a total change in this world- but it won’t come from shouting at buildings and holding up signs. Nay, the true revolution will begin when folks stop paying their taxes, stop going to work, stop buying gasoline, and burn piles of money out in the streets. It’s going to take total non-participation in this present system in order to cripple the established order of business globally.
When non-participation in the system finally starts to kick in, Occupy protesters will no longer see it necessary to fortify themselves in riot gear as their police oppressors would find themselves out of a job due to a lack of funding from your tax moneys. But in the mean time, some level of defense might be necessary- that is to say if the American political establishment starts murdering people as they do in Syria and elsewhere when revolution starts to brew.
