Why I Support Gun Ownership

Make no mistake- I do not support gun ownership out of some manufactured conservative belief system. I support gun ownership  because it’s simply more than practical to be well armed in today’s age.

Gangs run amok in U.S. cities. Drug dealers and pimps occupy our once beautiful towns and neighborhoods. If I lived in a densely populated urban community, you had better believe that I’d be packing some form of heat!

Many poorly educated fools- primarily from the left-field of the political spectrum- make the assertion that only police and military should be equipped with firearms. The response to this lunacy is usually the following: If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. And such is truly the case. Make no mistake about it, just because something is illegal- guns in this our hypothetical examination- doesn’t necessarily mean that the outlawed activity called into question will be curbed. Drugs are illegal yet this doesn’t prevent criminals from getting their hands on them, does it?

I grew up in a neighborhood where police were afraid to patrol. A gang-war once occurred right outside of my living room window- someone we knew got shot. Now what if one of the gang members had made their way into my boyhood home and had held a gun to my mother’s head? Would calling the police- who were afraid of venturing into town- do us any good? If one of us even reached for the phone, we probably would’ve been shot! The fact is that one cannot merely wait upon the police to respond to an armed home invasion. You might just be dead before the police would even arrive!

Perhaps in the future- when man has had the time to structure a society based on civility and peace- guns would be rendered obsolete as most crimes would have vanished. However in this transition phase into a new enlightened world order, it is pertinent to own a weapon- to know how to use it and to be ready to strike at all times.

The U.S. constitution allows for private gun ownership- that’s great. But let this not be the only reason as to why you’re packing heat. Please be practical in your approach and realize that the true threat we face out there on the streets is more of a reason to own a gun than simply because some crusty, out-of-date document says you can!
