Why Obama Doesn’t Really Plan on Increasing Taxes for the Wealthy

Grant J. Kidney— Obama is parading around on the campaign trail, riling up voters with talk of his ‘buffet rule’ which is a proposed tax increase on the millionaires and billionaires of this country.

Whilst the idea of making the top income ‘earners’ pay their fair share is promising, it’ll never actually happen considering that the U.S. has always served as the ‘wild west’ in terms of greedy profiteering.

Obama’s plan calls for taxing millionaires and billionaires at a rate of 30%. The amount of revenue which could be earned from such would certainly be substantial enough to repair broken infrastructure, build schools, and provide quality medical care for each and every citizen. This is precisely why such a pipe dream will never manifest here in the United States.

Make no mistake about it- this is an author who would one day like to see the abandonment of money, debt, and taxes outright and the building of a new, sustainable world system. On the way however toward that kind of world, taxing the s**t out of hedge fund managers, Wall Street bankers, and ass hole celebrities would provide for a smooth transition.

Obama knows that his talk about taxing the rich is just that- talk. Even on the opposite end of the political spectrum, forces are aware of such. Obama’s strategy- like every other politicians’- is to tell audiences exactly what they want to hear. And in a time when 1 in 2 are now living in impoverished conditions, saying that you’re going to take from the rich and give to the poor will certainly translate in to votes.

If Obama were truly serious about enacting some financial change in this country, he would first start by limiting his presidential salary to the average median of middle class workers. Since all of the President’s meals, transportation, and health care costs are already provided in full, doing such wouldn’t necessarily put the commander-in-chief out on his ass.

America is ruled by a wealthy oligarchy that would never fork over the much needed assistance to help get the country back on financial track. Obama, like every other President before his time, serves as nothing but a ceremonial, puppet on a string for the corrupt elite. It has always been this way and will continue to be this way until the great collapse occurs.
